Tested positive for COVID-19 on the weekend. My symptoms aren't too severe, but being sick is still annoying regardless. I'm hoping that it doesn't last very long and I can recover quickly.
Although I want to get back to running a website again, I'm struggling to think of a direction for it. There are few areas where I have enough expertise to bring anything new to the table, and it's hard for me to write about my interests. Let's hope I can think of something soon!
Still trying to update this blog once a week! My internet died last week, and I was only left with painfully slow 4G for a few days. Thankfully, it's fixed now and I can get back to it.
Since I've been interested in small websites and the beauty of the web again, I looked at my old fansite that I made as a kid on archive.org. What struck me is that I was actually quite creative as a kid. Yeah, I cringe at the content on that site now, but when you're a kid you don't care about that. I was having fun making websites and that's what mattered. That is the reason I've been so fascinated by Neocities. I've spent years only consuming, not creating. That's made me quite lazy and means it's been too long since I regularly wrote. I want to get my brain back to it by using this website. What I choose to write about will probably be all over the place, at least at first as I find a style and niche. By putting this goal on this page, I'm trying to hold myself to it, so I actually have the motivation to do it.
I've been thinking a bit about layouts and writing ideas for this website. Hopefully I'll get something together in the next couple of weeks.
The old web was truly magical, wasn't it? There is so much more character and creativity on Neocities than on any social media platform today. (Nothing expresses individuality and personality like a custom site layout!) Although the web will probably never go back to the way it was, I think the best way to revive that spirit is to build my own website. I still have no idea what I'm going to put here, but I want to give it a crack anyway. I need to learn a lot, I'm basically doing it from stratch and I have zero idea of how to make a responsive layout for the modern day (though this barebones "layout" actually seems more responsive than most modern websites, lol), but the greatest limitation is in my head. I need to get over it and just do it!
In (un)interesting news: I finished all routes of Nier:Automata the other day. Great game, definitely worth a playthrough if you haven't already. (I wouldn't mind a section of this site where I write things for games I like, but I am not confident in my writing abilites sadly.)
Welcome to my blog! I have zero idea what I would use this for, but this page exists anyway! Perhaps I will use this for small updates regarding my hobbies or something. I'm also interested in playing around with static site generators at some point in the future, so this seems like an appropriate way of doing that.
